Meeting of the Working Group on the strategic development of reclamation systems in Izmail district.
On February 27, 2025, a meeting of the Working Group on the Strategic Development of the Irrigation Systems of the Izmail District was held. The meeting was attended by Taras Kot, the First Deputy Head of the State Agency of Ukraine for the Development of Land Reclamation, Fisheries, and Food Programs; Ihor Siri, Deputy Director of the Department; Dmytro Honcharov, Acting Head of the Internal Audit Department of the State Agency for Fisheries; Hanna Shiyan, Head of the State Institution "Expert Training Center"; Rodion Abashev, Head of the Izmail District State Administration; his First Deputy Serhiy Prodanov; Deputy Irina Kholostenko; representatives of local communities, water management, the agricultural sector, water users, and other interested parties.
The main topic of discussion was the resolution of issues related to land reclamation and water supply in the Izmail District.
Implementation of the capital repair project of the protective dam "ShlyuzRepida-ISRZ"
The meeting emphasized the need to build a duplicate dam to prevent accidents and emergencies in the region.
The possibility of implementing anti-erosion measures on Lake Yalpuh in the area of the village of Ozerny was also discussed. This issue will be brought to the commission meeting on technogenic and ecological safety and emergency situations.
Improvement of water exchange between the Kyslytskyi branch of the Danube River and water bodies
The use of dredging equipment to eliminate silt buildup caused by the growth of vegetation along the island shores was proposed. Additionally, the possibility of including the Kyslytskyi branch in the list of navigable internal waterways, according to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 136 from February 9, 2022, was considered.
Restoration of water flow in the Dunayets branch
Due to shallowing and reed overgrowth, the branch is losing its functionality. The local authorities have been tasked with taking abandoned property under the management of the Kiliya City Council and developing the corresponding project and budget documentation.
All discussed issues, including the urgent need for filling the Danube Delta water bodies by natural or forced means, require a comprehensive approach and significant financial resources. Due to the limitations of local budgets, state funding is necessary.
All responsible services, enterprises, and organizations will continue monitoring the condition of the irrigation systems and water bodies in the district.
